Today is day 1 of our 21 Day Fix Challenge. It's been a while since my wife, Allison, and I have been doing the same exact program, starting it together. I'm really excited about this because it will cut down on our workout time (we will do one workout in the morning, possibly with the Doubles Option, so in that case one in the morning and one at night).
We figured out our grocery list yesterday and the bill was actually a little cheaper with the food we bought (for us a typical grocery bill was anywhere from $150-200 per week depending on if we had to get diapers, toiletries, etc). And that's feeding a family of four. This week getting ready for the Fix we sat right in the middle at around $180, which I was actually pretty pleased with. So if you are worried about doing this because you think you'll be buying a bunch of new food, with the amounts that you eat and the portion control, you will be eating less food and it does last longer---so no worries, give it a shot ;)
My meal plan for this week basically looks like this (and even though I'm pretty near my goal weight, I'm sticking with the original calculations for the 21 days just to see if I cut off any extra body fat around my abs getting ready for summer).
After the calculations I did fall in 1200-1499 bracket level (although I did add in extra Green container because by the time dinner came around I was REALLY hungry). So if you find yourself in that situation and need to add food, Autumn suggests adding in an extra green container (it's hard to overeat on veggies!)
Yellow containter of Cooked Oats
1/2 orange container of coconut flakes to top the oatmeal
1/2 banana, sliced
2 containers green of mixed salad greens, spinach, kale, and tomatoes
1 red of tuna
1 tsp of olive oil
balsamic vinegar (free)
1/2 Orange of sunflower kernals
1 tsp of almond butter
Ground Turkey Tacos
2 hard shell corn tortillas
1 red of ground turkey (with some yogurt in there for sour cream substitute)
2 Greens of steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots (supposed to be 1 green but added in one because I was hungry)
Black cherry herbal tea
So this is what my main meal plan for this week will look like. We had leftovers tonight from tacos so I will have the same dinner for lunch tomorrow and then we'll be having chicken and veggies tomorrow night for dinner.
