This is one of the coolest things I've seen Shaun T (creator of Focus T25, Insanity, Asylum, Hip Hop Abs) and I'm pretty excited about it! Especially with our Paleo/Primal Challenge starting up soon, it's very cool to see a post like this (and I gotta say, it looks pretty similar to a Paleo/Primal grocery list, eh???)
Basically what this is is a 7 Day Slim down challenge, obviously cutting out grains, many fruits (don't get me wrong, that's not paleo but the focus on this challenge is quick weight loss and in the FAQ'S we discuss the reasons for limiting fruits), and giving you a basic guideline for your meals.
Now from first glance a few things may seem out of place from what you may have seen come from some of the latest Beachbody Programs.
#1 Carbs are AT NIGHT (wait, hold the phone!... at night?) Yes, at night. As Shaun explains in his FAQ's:
"A recent study published in the Journal of Obesity actually looked into this exact topic and the results were pretty shocking compared to the typical “don’t eat carbs at night” we hear all the time. The researches measured two groups of people on a calorie
restricted diet for 6 months. They consumed the same amount of calories, protein,
carbohydrates, and fat but one group ate carbs throughout the day and the other group
ate the majority of their carbs at night. After 6 months, the carbs-at-night group lost
significantly more weight and body fat AND they experienced less hunger!"
So yes, that will be the first big major change. Ever since I completed Asylum (where that was one of the biggest tips in the meal guide), I've been aiming to get my carbs in before dinner. My how science and research changes things!
#2 There are only 3 meals (including a Pre-workout and Post-workout meal). But if your meals are as big as the ones to the right, I think you'll be okay ;)
What about snacks and eating every 2-3 hours? Not on this meal plan. Your snacks are included as the Pre-workout and Post-workout and you'll do your best to stick with just the 3 meals.
why do the #st7dayslimdown?
Because it leads right into our Primal/Paleo Challenge that is coming up very, very soon! For those that are wanting to explore a more Primal/Paleo type of eating (it's not for everyone---there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL) and at least TRY it for 21 days, submit your name and email below and we'll send you the details of the group, when we start, etc. and get rolling with it!
