Country Heat is the latest workout program from at home fitness company, Beachbody. This program launches after the success of Shaun T's Cize Dance Cardio Workout that came out in 2015. With Hip Hop Abs, Cize, Turbo Jam and Turbo Kick, do we really another dance program?
How is Country Heat Different?
First of all, Country Heat is one of the first programs to target a demographic that is often ignored, especially when it comes to fitness and dance---the country music enthusiasts!
Being a country fan myself, this music is definitely something those who like country music will enjoy. Although, it's important to note that in the DVD's and streaming workouts, the music is NOT the original recording---they are remade by different artists for the program. You will be focused on the dance moves themselves so chances are, you probably won't notice.
Secondly, with Cize you were learning choreography that you combined into a certain dance routine for when you "Cized It Up". With this you are simply learning 2 8 counts moves, you do them a few times to practice them and go with the song, and then you move on. There is no "put it all together" at the end section as in other programs. This takes a little less pressure off of those of us who have a hard time remembering choreography!
Thirdly, this program is definitely doable for the beginner or intermediate fitness enthusiast. If you are intimidated by burpees, pushups, lunges, etc. that you find in all of the other programs, this would be a great place to start. There's some fun music, the stage crew is smiling and having fun all through the workout, and it's pretty easy to follow.
Is it an effective workout?
That's a great question and probably my most important concern when I first saw this program being launched. However, it is a cardio dance routine and you are moving nonstop for 30 minutes straight. Given the fact that those doing this program are moving for 30 minutes each day and as long as they are following the meal plan outlined in the book, you'll get results.
The test groups that have gone through this program have gotten amazing results. This program is NOT a muscle building program as there are no weights or resistance training but if you are looking for a place to start with your fitness and the other programs are intimidating (or they just don't look like any fun), this is probably the place for you!
